What is the Definition
of a Father?
Written by a very special member
of The Decorum Group Family
All the dictionary says is that it's a male parent and what does it say about a parent? It just says it's a father or mother, but I am going to tell you what a father should be. A father is more than just a giver of life. He is the head of the household and a man who takes responsibility for all his actions. Also to his children he is a role model. A father should be able, willing and ready to take risks and sacrifices for the betterment of his family.
Now, having a child doesn't make you a father nor because you put your name on a birth certificate. It takes a true man to stay around and dedicate the time and effort it is going to take to raise this child into a fine adult.
I can only hope that one day all these men having children can realize they have the power to change the world by how they raise a child into an adult. Now, hopefully one day if I'm lucky enough, I will have a child that may one day change this world we live in.
The author of this piece is a 17 year old foster child whose father let him, his siblings and mother down. He wanted to make a contribution to our organization by expressing his views on fatherhood.
He is a bright, enthusiastic young man who stepped in to be a father to his three younger siblings. For the safety of he and his family, they relocated to another part of the country. We at The Decorum Group miss his spirit and will always remember him fondly for his courage.
Kudos to young Sir! May God be with you and may you be the father that you so desperately longed for.
